The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA), under the stewardship of its State Secretary S.R. Gopinath Reddy, has embarked on a mission with a dual purpose - to nurture budding cricket talent and to provide a launchpad for promising players from Andhra Pradesh into the grand arena of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Enthusiastic individuals took part in the expansive 3K Mega Run held in Vijayawada on Saturday, orchestrated collaboratively by the Andhra Cricket Association and the Krishna District Cricket Association. The primary objective of this event was to raise awareness and support for the Andhra Premier League, showcasing the cricketing fervor that resonates within the community.
Mr. Gopinath Reddy, accompanied by BCCI South Zone Vice-President Gokaraju Gangaraju, recently inaugurated the 3K Run at M.G. Road within the Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation Stadium. This event saw the symbolic passing of the torch to Md. Shabanam, an Under-19 cricket player representing the state, and N. Geetha, a member of the ACA apex council, who actively participated in the run.
Expressing his thoughts on this occasion, Mr. Gopinath Reddy emphasized that the upcoming Andhra Premiere League (APL-2) is scheduled to take place in Visakhapatnam from August 16 to August 27, hosted at the illustrious Dr. Y.S.R. Rajasekhar Reddy International Cricket Stadium. The league is set to witness the participation of around 120 talented players from the state. The cricketing action of APL-2 will be broadcasted live on a sports channel, allowing enthusiasts to witness the talent on display.
Reflecting on the impact of the previous edition (APL-1), Mr. Gopinath Reddy noted the tremendous response it garnered, a testament to the league's success in its inaugural year.
Highlighting the unwavering commitment of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy towards the advancement of cricket and sports within the state, Mr. Gopinath Reddy acknowledged that the construction of the international stadium in Mangalagiri had received the Chief Minister's explicit support and direction.
In essence, the Andhra Premiere League stands as a significant platform with a clear vision. It aims to not only nurture the cricketing potential of Andhra Pradesh but also to pave the way for its exceptional talent to shine at the national level, particularly within the prestigious Indian Premier League. Under the able leadership of ACA and the dedication of individuals like Mr. Gopinath Reddy, the league represents a beacon of hope for aspiring cricketers and a testament to the state's rich cricketing heritage.
